Assessment

Picture
Everything in the classroom begins with assessment. It can be informal or formal, but it should always be a constant. As a teacher, all forms of assessments tell a story about the learner. It is through the practice of assessment that we learn about what level our students are academically, but also emotionally and socially. With the information that we receive from the assessment process, we as teachers can formulate or reformulate our lessons to suit the range of capabilities in the classroom. During the lesson, we assess how it is going, exploring whether modifications or adaptations should be made. Once the lesson is completed, we asses once again to gain an understanding of what the children have learner, but also how much they have progressed.
